Hamlet

Elsinore is dark and claustrophobic for young Prince Hamlet, the original rebel with a cause. CTP’s Hamlet is created specifically to engage teens while remaining faithful to the famed play that is – arguably – the greatest tragedy in the English tradition. Don’t miss the chance to see some of Shakespeare’s greatest characters come to life onstage.

For ten years we have created productions of classic works that entertain and inspire students. We have traveled across Canada and the United States, meeting educators and theatre presenters to share our work. What we have heard repeatedly is that CTP's work is unique in helping to meet the needs of teachers and students.

Teachers want professional actors and fully realized productions that use Shakespeare's original language and improve comprehension. Students want productions that are clear, insightful, and relevant to their world, as well as value for their time & money. This is the delicate balance that we have struck, and it's the reason we perform Shakespeare for more students than any other theatre company in Canada.

This summer we were able to reach an even wider audience with our hilarious hit production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) at Casa Loma. Featuring a three-person cast, this fast-paced show romps through all of Shakespeare’s 37 plays in 75 minutes with the help of wigs, swords and rubber duckies. A wonderful introduction to Shakespeare, and proving that Shakespeare is definitely not boring, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) appeals to everyone from elementary school students to seniors. This show will continue to entertain and educate students throughout our 2012/13 season as we tour to schools in Ontario.

Beginning in 2012, CTP created a partnership with the Toronto Centre for the Arts to move our Toronto productions to their Broadway-quality Main Stage Theatre. We are excited about this new venture and we invite you to join us in this beautiful space for our relevant and entertaining 2012/13 season.

Sincerely,
David Galpern  &  Charles Roy
