We started creating workshops with a very simple goal – to ensure that when kids left, they weren’t afraid of Shakespeare. By getting them up on their feet and knocking Shakespeare off a pedestal, the kids get to experience the plays as entertainment – just like audiences in Elizabethan times. Shakespeare becomes demystified, and the words become fun and accessible. While we can’t teach kids everything about Shakespeare in just two hours, we can leave them inspired, unafraid, and excited to return to the classroom to work with you to deepen their connection to the play. What a great way to spend an afternoon!
